OCS's theme is ‘All Flesh is in God’s hand”, and he arranges the story so that all the principal characters are acting in good faith but end up enacting a result that most of them see as bad - a woman has to share her husband with another woman. This adds a lot to the spare bible narrative which is silent on the thoughts and motivations of Leah and Rachel.
